Trentham Gardens Wedding Photography
Married Amongst the Italian Gardens
Trentham is steeped in history and being able to get married amongst its beautiful surroundings is a real privilege. Even though the hall is now just a crumbling facade the gardens have never been brighter and there’s no secret why hundreds flock to this Estate every day.
Planning your special day at the Trentham Estate?
Trentham is such a beautiful place which I have photographed so many times. I love returning time and time again so why not drop me message and find out a little more?

Behind the Scenes at Trentham
Through the magic of a 360 camera, I’m able to capture behind-the-scenes content on my wedding days to show my current and future couples exactly what it would like for them to have me along at their Trentham Gardens Estate wedding day
All of these videos and more are captured in the most subtle way making sure to not disrupt the wedding day at all. I feel the connection between a couple and their photographer is a really important factor hence why I wanted to show this part of my work as well. I’m not like every wedding photographer and showing you these behind-the-scenes videos from Trentham hopefully helps me to reinforce that statement.

If you are still looking at wedding photographers’ websites and have come to Adam’s website, look no further, you’ve found your photographer!
From our initial meeting with Adam right the way through to our wedding he was approachable, helpful and always happy to offer advice when we weren’t sure about things. We initially met over Zoom and after spending 2 hours chatting we knew he was the best person for the job. Closer to the wedding he came over to our house and we discussed the photos we wanted and the logistics of the day
We couldn’t be more pleased with our photographs, they completely encapsulated the joy of the day.

The History of the Trentham Gardens Estate
Trentham Gardens — or The Trentham Estate as many know it — is one of those places that hits you with its history the moment you arrive. Set just outside Stoke-on-Trent, the estate dates back hundreds of years and was once one of the grandest country residences in the area. Even though the original hall no longer stands, the Italian Gardens, ornate terraces and sweeping lake still carry that sense of old-world elegance that makes the whole place feel special.
The gardens were redesigned in the 19th century and later restored in the early 2000s, bringing them back to life with incredible care and attention to detail. Today they’re a blend of formal landscaping, wild woodland, contemporary sculptures and lakeside walkways — and all that variety makes Trentham a standout location for weddings.
Whenever I shoot here, I’m reminded just how unique it is. You’ve got centuries of heritage on one side, and a modern, vibrant estate on the other. It’s this mix of history and reinvention that gives Trentham its magic.
Trentham Gardens Weddings
Weddings at Trentham Gardens feel like they’re lifted straight out of a romantic film. The estate is vast, beautifully kept and full of character, and it’s one of those venues where every part of the day feels completely different to the last.
On the morning of the wedding, couples typically get ready in off site at nearby accommodation before heading into the estate. The ceremony often takes place under the Loggia in the Italian Gardens, overlooking the fountains, balustrades and perfectly manicured flowerbeds. Surrounded by stonework, statues and open skies, it’s a setting that feels both grand and intimate at the same time.
After the ceremony, guests can wander the terraces or enjoy drinks with views across the lake. It’s such a relaxed part of the day — the kind where the gardens do the heavy lifting and everyone just melts into the atmosphere. As a photographer, this is one of my favourite moments, as the scenery gives every candid photo an effortless beauty.
The wedding breakfast usually takes place in the Riverside Tea Rooms or a purpose-built marquee. Evening celebrations are always full of energy, with the grounds offering stunning sunset colours and, as the night draws in, that soft after-dark glow that makes Trentham feel truly enchanting.
Whether you’re opting for a big celebration or something more intimate, Trentham Gardens offers space, variety and endless opportunities for creating a day that reflects you.
Photographing Amongst the Italian Gardens
Trentham Gardens is one of those venues that makes my job an absolute joy. With so much natural beauty and architectural interest, it’s practically impossible not to come away with incredible photos. The Italian Gardens alone give you formal elegance, symmetry and texture — perfect for those timeless couple portraits.
Then you’ve got the lake, woodland paths, bridges, wild meadows and even the sculptures scattered around the estate. Each area has its own atmosphere, which means your gallery ends up with layers — it tells the story of the day not just through people, but through place.
Some of my favourite moments happen when we step away from the celebrations for ten minutes to catch the evening light by the water. The golden glow across the lake is unreal and gives the photos a softness that feels straight out of a postcard. To take it to the next level you can take a cruise around the lake with your very own boat.
My approach is always relaxed and unobtrusive. I’ll capture the laughter, the nerves, the hugs, the tiny in-between moments and the epic scenery without ever making you feel staged or stiff. Trentham is a dream location for natural, storytelling photography, and if you’re planning your wedding here, I’d love to be a part of it.
Meet Adam Lowndes
A Trentham Wedding photographer
No matter your race, colour, creed, or sexuality, you are everything to me. I wouldn’t live this incredible photography dream job without you. I can’t help but be your absolute wedding hero.
My couples are usually super down to earth and are planning a relaxed fun wedding day surrounded by all those people they love. I love a party! So when it comes to weddings I can’t help but get wrapped up in the magic of your day. Getting so stuck in with your wedding allows me to translate so much more feeling into my photographs. At some point, you’ll want a few awesome photographs of the two of you. These photographs will take minutes and not hours so we can get straight back to the party. Oh and those family formal portraits, don’t worry about them, they’ll be zero hassle.
With my super extraverted personality I’ll be one of the most excited guests from the moment I arrive. It won’t take your wedding party long to assume we are lifelong friends.
