Cripps and Co’s Grangefields is a venue which has been on my “to shoot” list for some time but the stars just never seemed to align until 2025. I love this barn wedding venue, it really helps my wedding photography shine and I’m so used to photographing days in venues with light similar to Grangefields. I can’t wait to return here and time and time again for more awesome weddings.

Through the magic of a 360 camera, I’m able to capture behind-the-scenes content on my wedding days to show my current and future couples exactly what it would like for them to have me along at their Grangefields wedding day
All of these videos and more are captured in the most subtle way making sure to not disrupt the wedding day at all. I feel the connection between a couple and their photographer is a really important factor hence why I wanted to show this part of my work as well. I’m not like every wedding photographer and showing you these behind-the-scenes videos from Grangefields hopefully helps me to reinforce that statement.

Closer to the wedding he came over to our house and we discussed the photos we wanted and the logistics of the day

The History of Grangefields Barn
Standing proud in in the lovely Derbyshire countryside, the Grangefields venue has got some serious backstory. In fact, Grangefields has roots that go way back to the Domesday Book in 1086. It’s perched just a stone’s throw from Long Lane, an ancient Roman road, so you know it’s seen some history. The original manor was given to Henry de Ferrers, and later on, Hugh le Arbalaster (cool name, right?) got his hands on it. This guy might have been a crossbow expert, which is pretty badass.
Fast forward a bit, and the Cistercian monks of Croxden Abbey got a piece of the action in 1180. They were gifted 40 acres, and over time, more land was added. The place has seen its fair share of land grants to various monastic houses, making it a hotspot for medieval monks.
Originally, the Grangefields barns were part of a working farm, used for storing hay and grain and housing livestock during harsh weather, offering shelter to cows, sheep, and horses. As the years went by, the barns at Grangefields saw many changes, adapting to the evolving needs of the farm. The sturdy construction ensured they stood the test of time, witnessing the transformation of the surrounding landscape and agricultural practices. They were silent witnesses to the seasons’ cycles, the hardships, and the celebrations of rural life.
Now, let’s jump to the present. Grangefields Barn has been transformed into a luxury wedding venue by the Cripps & Co team. They’ve kept the rustic charm but added a modern twist, making the Grangefields wedding venue the perfect spot for a stylish, laid-back wedding.

My couples are usually super down to earth and are planning a relaxed fun wedding day surrounded by all those people they love. I love a party! So when it comes to weddings I can’t help but get wrapped up in the magic of your day. Getting so stuck in with your wedding allows me to translate so much more feeling into my photographs. At some point, you’ll want a few awesome photographs of the two of you. These photographs will take minutes and not hours so we can get straight back to the party. Oh and those family formal portraits, don’t worry about them, they’ll be zero hassle.
With my super extraverted personality I’ll be one of the most excited guests from the moment I arrive. It won’t take your wedding party long to assume we are lifelong friends.
