Ashdown Park Wedding Photography
An Opulent Country Estate in Sussex
Landscapes and locations steeped in history are really great places for me to feel creative as a wedding photographer and no other place does this quite like Ashdown Park. The history beneath your feet in this place is just mind boggling. From the Saxons to nuns to the MOD; almost all of British society has left a mark on Ashdown Park which in turn makes it an incredible place to get married.
Planning your special day at Ashdown Park?
Ashdown Park is such a beautiful place which I have photographed so many times. I love returning time and time again so why not drop me message and find out a little more?

Behind the Scenes at Ashdown Park
Through the magic of a 360 camera, I’m able to capture behind-the-scenes content on my wedding days to show my current and future couples exactly what it would like for them to have me along at their Ashdown Park wedding day
All of these videos and more are captured in the most subtle way making sure to not disrupt the wedding day at all. I feel the connection between a couple and their photographer is a really important factor hence why I wanted to show this part of my work as well. I’m not like every wedding photographer and showing you these behind-the-scenes videos from Ashdown hopefully helps me to reinforce that statement.

From our initial meeting with Adam right the way through to our wedding he was approachable, helpful and always happy to offer advice when we weren’t sure about things. We initially met over Zoom and after spending 2 hours chatting we knew he was the best person for the job. Closer to the wedding he came over to our house and we discussed the photos we wanted and the logistics of the day
We couldn’t be more pleased with our photographs, they completely encapsulated the joy of the day.

The History of Ashdown Park
Ashdown Park Hotel & Country Club sits right in the heart of the East Sussex countryside, surrounded by rolling parkland and just on the edge of Ashdown Forest. The estate itself dates back to the 19th century, originally built as a grand country house before later becoming the luxury hotel it is today.
When you first drive up the long, sweeping approach, it feels exactly how you’d hope a classic country estate would feel — elegant, peaceful and tucked away from the world. The manicured lawns, mature trees and lake views give it that timeless English countryside atmosphere.
Over the years, Ashdown Park has evolved into one of Sussex’s most sought-after wedding venues, but it has never lost that sense of old-world charm. The grand façade, traditional interiors and expansive grounds still reflect its heritage, making it a beautiful backdrop for a wedding day that feels refined yet relaxed.
Ashdown Park Weddings
Weddings at Ashdown Park are effortlessly elegant. It’s the kind of venue that works beautifully for couples wanting a classic country house celebration, whether that’s a large formal affair or something more intimate and personal.
Bridal preparations usually begin in one of the hotel’s luxurious suites, with plenty of natural light and space for those calm, pre-ceremony moments. There’s something really special about getting ready in the same building where you’ll say your vows — it keeps the whole day flowing smoothly.
Ceremonies often take place in one of the licensed rooms inside the house, each with its own character — high ceilings, chandeliers and large windows overlooking the grounds. Alternatively, if the weather allows, the gardens provide a stunning outdoor setting with views stretching across the estate.
After the ceremony, guests spill out onto the lawns for drinks and canapés while the Sussex countryside does its thing in the background. The lake, the woodland edges and the open grassland give the whole afternoon a relaxed yet refined feel.
The wedding breakfast and evening celebrations are held in the hotel’s reception spaces, which transform beautifully from elegant dining to lively dancefloor as the evening unfolds. Ashdown Park strikes that balance of being luxurious without feeling intimidating — it’s warm, welcoming and incredibly well run.
Photographing Weddings at Ashdown Park
From a photography perspective, Ashdown Park is an absolute gift. The grounds alone offer endless opportunities — sweeping lawns, quiet woodland paths, reflective lake views and that classic country house backdrop that never goes out of style.
I always love taking couples for a short wander during golden hour. The light across the Sussex countryside can be incredible, especially as it filters through the trees or reflects off the water. Those quiet ten-minute breaks away from the guests often produce some of the most natural and timeless portraits of the day.
Inside, the soft window light in the ceremony rooms and suites creates beautiful conditions for capturing emotion — the nervous smiles before the aisle walk, the laughter during speeches, the hugs after the confetti. My approach is always relaxed and unobtrusive, allowing the day to unfold naturally while I document it as it really feels.
If you’re planning your wedding at Ashdown Park and want photography that captures both the elegance of the venue and the genuine moments in between, I’d love to be part of it. It’s a venue that lends itself perfectly to storytelling imagery, and every wedding here feels classic, romantic and completely personal..
