Eden Barn Wedding Photography | Zoe & Andrew

A Cumbrian Wedding

Zoe and Andrew actually got married last year in secret during the Corona Virus pandemic. Although we had a lot of fun at their micro wedding it was never what they’d dreamed and it’s hard to get much of an atmospher with just 15 people so this year we finally got to have the day they’d dreamed of at Eden Barn in Little Musgrave Cumbria.

Ironically last year we had fun shooting photographs on the beach in december and this year we had snow to contend with in November. Although the snow provided many challenges I couldn’t have asked for more fitting weather for both occassions. They both really moulded well to their day and who doesn’t love a bit of snow whilst in the Lake District?

We had an incredible day and the party atmosphere was rife after they lacked it last year. I adores working at Eden Barn too. It just felt like my home away from home and I can’t wait till I get to go back and see everyone again.

A Snowy Wedding at Eden Barn

I loved being a part of Zoe & Andrew’s wedding day at Eden and would relish the chance to do it again.

My style of wedding photography is strongly built on my incredible extraverted personality and using this to build an incredible relationship with every single one of my couples. All of my couples are different and unique so in turn, so are their weddings and the photographs always lean on their personalities to make them completely different. This is even the case if I was to shoot again at Eden again. For me and my couples time is everything on their wedding day, you want to spend it with your friends and family and not on a massive photo shoot in a field. So if I can help it I don’t really want you to miss a thing and would love you to remember as much as possible. This caring and relaxed approach to my wedding photography is the reason why so many couples recommend me. They always say it feels like a friend is taking their photographs and not a photographer.

Planning your special day at Eden Barn?

Eden Barn is such a beautiful place within the Lake District which I loved photographing. I would love to return so why not give me a shout if you’re planning your own Eden wedding?

SHOUT!

A Little History From This Cumbrian Venue

Just on the edge of Little Musgrave, you’ll head down Swillings Road on one of those classic Cumbrian roads which look like they’re heading nowhere only to find the quiet entrance to Eden Barn, a boutique wedding venue hidden near Kirkby in the Lake District. Surrounding by 100 acres of rolling Cumbria countryside you really will be partying in the middle of nowhere with just your family and friends.

Owned by the Hawker family whose daughter was the first to marry in the barn in June 2015 you know you’re amongst people who actually really care about the big day and not just throwing weddings out week in week out. No, this is a bespoke and boutique experience that exists to bring a unique backdrop to your own visions.

The carefully restored 200-year-old Westmorland stone barn features giant chandeliers, exposed stone walls, traditional barn vaulted ceilings along beautiful limestone flagged flooring throughout. Cascading fairy lights along with filament bulbs on industrial meets wild foliage chandeliers provide the most warming of light to even the coldest of days. The whole of Eden Barn is heated through underfloor heating to ensure everyone is kept warm but the illusion of rustic charm isn’t ruined with radiators hanging from their 200-year-old walls.

A Eden Barn Wedding Day

On the morning of your wedding, you can be on-site from 10:30 enjoying the extension of Eden Barn in the “Couples Lounge”. The perfect place to settle those pre-wedding nerves and not worry about getting stuck behind a cow herd crossing one of the country roads on the way to the venue. After the ceremony the Couples Lounge remains open for the couple to escape and get a few minutes to themselves in the middle of the madness of the drinks reception, wedding breakfast or evening do.

Eden Barn is an exclusive use wedding venue meaning no random people who just so happen to be staying nearby can wander in for a drink at the bar. It’s yours and only yours.

When it comes to dressing your wedding venue Eden Barn want to take all of the stress away by freeing your time and budget up by working alongside Southcott Events to layout your tables, chairs and individual quirks and cakes.

Eden Barn is a licensed wedding venue meaning you can marry onsite in 200 years of history. So don’t worry about the Cumbrian registrars, they’ll come to you. If you wanted to marry outside at Eden then a beautiful in keeping pergola provides the permanent structure for your licensed outdoor wedding day in the Lake District. If you wanted to marry within Christianity there are a few historical churches just a stone’s throw away from the Barn including St Theobald’s just down the road.

To give you space following your service there is an adjoining Bar area that carries over the rustic boho charm of the main barn ideally designed to cater for you and your wedding guests to mingle whilst grabbing a beverage or two. Complete with all the ales, lagers, spirits, wines and champers you could wish for this handcrafted oak bar is the perfect layout to give the Eden Barn team enough time to cover the main barn for your wedding breakfast.

The Barn can host up to 144 people for a sit-down wedding breakfast which means it’s ideal for most guest sizes but also keeps it cosy inside so you don’t feel too far away from your friends and family. When it comes to munching down on some beautiful food Eden Barn’s sole supplier Southcott Events will take care of this. The husband and wife team, Luke and Jen, along with their chefs and front of house staff will see to all your food needs whilst making sure what they do supplier is beyond expectation and carefully crafter from handpicked local produce.

When it comes to your evening food Eden Barn like to throw open the doors to “The Shack” and serve relaxed street food as everyone wants to spend their time on the dance floor right?

Unfortunately, you will have to leave Eden Barn at the end of the night but there is an abundance of local accommodation nearby for you and your guests in the nearby towns of Appleby, Kirkby and Ravenstonedale.

Photographing During Autumn

The best news of all, Eden Barn is dog-friendly! YES! All my favourite venues are dog friendly and I find this a really important part of a day as I know Juno for me is just as important as any wedding guest I know. They also have no restriction on when your pooch can visit so that means they don’t just have to come for five minutes and be carted off the next. I love photographing dog-friendly wedding venues and it really hits a personal spot for me.

Photographing at Eden Barn is just incredible their style inside really echos the earthy and organic environment it sits within in the Lake District. It doesn’t look imposing nor does it overpower your day. It’s just the perfect unique Cumbrian wedding venue setting to photograph any wedding in. With the ever-changing weather in the Lake District, you can guarantee a Summer wedding would look wildly different to this Autumnal one which is why I can’t think of a venue I’d rather return to more than Eden Barn.
