An Engagement Shoot at Cliff College | Hannah & Andrew

A Moody Engagement Shoot at Cliff College and Baslow Edge

I met up with Hannah & Andrew in April 2019 to photograph their engagement shoot at Cliff College where Andrew studied and now works. We then went on to Baslow Edge to photograph the place where the proposal actually happened. I love tying in engagement shoots with areas which have a historical or emotional attachment to the couple.

Hannah & Andrew got in touch last year to see if I was available to photograph their wedding this Summer at Osmaston Park in Derbyshire. They’ve got my character and work ethic down to a tee having seen me at many other weddings over the years and also Hannah being lucky enough to witness my formative years as a fellow survivor of my high school. So when it came to make the big decision I was a the number one choice. Lucky for me as it’s going to be a fantastic day.

As I’ve already mentioned Andrew works at Cliff College which was fantastic as we had a really great personal guide for the shoot. With his knowledge of the area and my ideas we managed to capture some fantastic engagement shoot photographs for the two of them.

We then headed up to Baslow Edge to grab a few more at the proposal point. Andrew was an American studying/working abroad when he met Hannah. It was quite interesting being tour guided by a guy who grew up almost 5,000 miles away.

Are you planning a wedding in the Peak District?

I photograph weddings all over the UK. So wherever you are, give me a shout.

SHOUT!

A Pre-Wedding Shoot at Cliff College & Baslow Edge

Cliff College came about at the turn of the 20th century when the Wesleyan Methodist Church took over the premises to start a training home. Now home to many undergraduate and postgraduate students it boasts one of the biggest masters of theology degrees in the country.

Located in Calver, Derbyshire it sits amongst many random non native tree lines which creates a sea of interest and colour. Old sandstone buildings litter the grounds making you feel like you’re in the middle of a J.K. Rowling novel.

Sitting just on the edge of small village of Calver it’s only a short drive or pleasant walk up to Baslow Edge where Andy popped the question to Hannah. Baslow Edge sits straight next to Curbar Edge and is only divided by a small road. With completely different outlooks you can see different parts of the beautiful Derbyshire Dales from each point. Both Edge’s are natural rock formations with the occasional dump of old mill stones which were rendered useless in times gone by. What once stood as a bit of dumping ground straight from the Sheffield Moors it now makes an interesting feature to a great outlook.

Peak District Engagement Shoots

As a child I never really explored the Peak District so I’ve found it surprising as to what beauty sits so close to my doorstep. Just an hour away you can seemingly stand at the edge of the world with breathtaking views. Reaching into 5 different counties it’s always a great place to meet couples coming from all over the North Midlands to work with me.

I’ve also photographed engagement shoots at Bamford EdgeLady Bower Reservoir and Lawrencefield nearby. The shoot locations are just never ending in this glorious area of natural beauty in the UK.
