A Pistyll Rhaeadr Engagement Shoot | Emma & Sam

Blazing Hot Sun at this Pistyll Rhaeadr Engagement Shoot

Last week I headed off on a little adventure to meet Emma & Sam at Pistyll Rhaeadr for their engagement shoot. Emma and Sam got in touch earlier this year to find a photographer for their wedding next year. I met up with Emma, her daughter and her mum in Oswestry on my way back from my family get together in February half term. I love meeting my couples face to face as it’s just so much more personal so I’ll even divert my route home from a holiday for a chat.

Emma decided it’d be a good idea to have a practice run for hers and Sam’s wedding day by having an engagement shoot. So the hunt then started for an interested place to shoot it. When looking for an engagement shoot location it’s sometimes difficult to find somewhere that meets all the photography needs and at the same time is actually open to the public during the times we’d like to go.

After a few ideas didn’t pan out we planned the Pistyll Rhaeadr engagement shoot for late afternoon outing in late June. With the area being incredibly diverse with terrain it was important to get there earlier than planned so that Pistyll Rhaeadr still had some sun lighting it up.

Upon arrival we got moving super quick and headed to the top of Pistyll Rhaeadr straight away. This is the moment I realise I’m not the spring chicken I thought.

With a mixture of waterfall spray, mini fields of foxgloves, edge of the world rocks and and then the allmighty falls I wasn’t short of the perfect backdrop for any of these photographs. Alls I needed next was an engaged couple who were super into each other, luckily for me I had that sussed too.

Having your wedding in Oswestry?

I photograph weddings all over the UK. So wherever you are, give me a shout.

SHOUT!

A Pre-Wedding Shoot at Pistyll Rhaeadr

Dubbed as one of the Seven Wonders of Wales you kinda know what you’re in for before you arrive. I can assure you though, none of the photographs of this place do it justice. Dropping 73 meters this is one of the biggest single drop falls in the UK.

Luckily for me the day was hot and Emma & Sam loved the idea of standing in the falls pool to grab a few photographs which made this extra special. There’s something quite divine about being surrounded by such breath taking natural beauty and I hope I caught even an ounce of that within my photographs.

Check out some awesome walks for the falls here.

Wales Engagement Shoots

With my sister and close friends living in Wales I’m always up for travelling to this not so foreign land. I have numerous weddings there this year and I absolutely love the diverse landscape. I don’t know why but I always feel so much more relaxed when I cross the border which is one of the many reasons I love this place.

I’ve also shot another engagement shoot a little bit further in near Machynlleth last year which was just as jaw dropping. Check that out here or be sure to check out my more personal blogs here, here and oh yes here!
